Bhutan, 2012

There is a time-warp that kicks in when you first set foot in Bhutan. They dress the way they did 200 years ago and the country houses haven’t changed much in design in that same period. There are all too many countries to which I have traveled where people are fanatically guarded when approached by a photographer. But Bhutan was different. The people are kind, interested and were eager to engage. Much of this attitude I feel is out of national pride and the hope for greater tourism but most of it is just a culture of happiness and gentleness. My two weeks in Bhutan was an appetizer for a more extensive trip I hope to make, back to this amazing picturesque country.
